Open Position: Principal and Senior Consultants

Principal and Senior Consultants are central to the Aurora Information Systems, Inc. team. This consulting classification will design and develop distinguishing middleware solutions through a combination of on-site and lab-based services. There will be around 80% US travel with possible international travel involved.

Job Role:

A senior level assignment will primarily focus on critical individual delivery in both single and multiple consultant engagements.

A Principal Consultant will be expected to provide hands on expertise in the following subject areas:

  • middleware solutions
  • requirements analysis
  • detailed design and development
  • application integration design
  • IS services development
  • middleware architecture/production audit services
  • client mentoring
  • project management
  • classroom training

A Senior Consultant will be expected to provide hands on expertise in the following subject areas:

  • middleware solutions
  • detailed design and development
  • application integration design
  • IS services development
  • client mentoring
  • classroom training

Job Skills:

This job role dictates a wide variety of consulting and engagement skill requirements for both the Principal and Senior Consultant. Both positions are required to maintain proficiency in two broad categories:

  • Consultative Methods

Technical Skills:

All Aurora Information Systems, Inc. consultants are expected to have a strong working knowledge of BEA Systems, Inc. Core Product Component and Feature Design and Application use:

The Principal and Senior Consultants are expert in a wide variety of Technology Skill Groups. Each must have a primary specialty in at least 3 Technology Skill Groups.

  • Internet-Enabling Design and Implementation
  • Networked Solution Administration

The Principal and Senior Consultant will be expected to have design and development experience in products such as Oracle Parallel Server, Sun HA, HP Open View, and IBM CICS that are regularly integrated into customer applications to provide complete middleware solutions.

Further, Principal and Senior Consultants must be capable of detailed design, development, and testing of the heterogeneous transaction management environment. This understanding necessarily requires practical understanding of three-tier architecture design and implementation.

The Principal Consultant will provide expertise in all facets of the development life cycle. This entails analysis, project management, design, coding, release management, testing and operations.

Each Principal and Senior Consultant must have a primary specialty in at least 2 Tools Skill Groups and secondary specialty in an additional 2-3 Tools Skill Groups.

Consultative Method:

Central to delivering quality consulting solutions to Aurora Information Systems, Inc.'s customers is the SBUs consultative methods. Senior Consultants are required to apply this methodology to all consulting activities. Our consultative method includes four primary expertise areas:

Solution Deliverya method of defining, analyzing, and solving assigned activities
Knowledge Transfer a process of conveying specific solution information to customer staff
Presentation Delivery a style of planning and presenting PS knowledge
Project Planning a technique of creating and/or interpreting project plans

Educational Requirements:

BS in Computer Science or equivalent is required.

Promotion Path:

The successful Senior Consultant may be promoted to Principal Consultant.
The successful Principal Consultant may be promoted to Project Manager or SBU Director.
